Arcade Spiritual Formation Institute Classes are taught by members of the pastoral staff or other qualified teachers. Each class consists of six lessons and are offered online or by CD with a .pdf or hard copy workbook containing lesson outlines and reflection questions. Two or three classes will be highlighted or introduced each fall and spring along with one or two classes each summer. Six weeks after the introduction of a new or highlighted class a live roundtable discussion with the teacher is held either at the church or offsite. The content of these classes range from core biblical studies to more application-oriented studies.
Classes offered Fall 2009
Foundations of Christian Spiritual Formation
This class explores how we grow in the knowledge of God and the knowledge of our true identity in the eyes of God. We will examine the brokenness of the human soul caused by the Fall and the process of redemption that is informed and propelled by infinite grace and mercy. We will look at how our life stories (our histories) impact our view of God and either constrict or construct our spiritual growth. The goal will be to open ourselves to the reality in which He has placed us, to find our true identity in Him, and to embark on the unique journey of formation that He has laid before us.
This class will be taught by Mark Moore and will draw from various passages of Scripture and other Christian writings on the topic.
Introduction date: September 12, 2009.
Methods of Bible Study
This class will look at the various ways in which one can study the Bible. It will aim to lay a healthy foundation of proper textual study, context, original word meanings, and translation comparisons. This class will help us approach and apply Scripture the way it was intended and inspired by the Holy Spirit. Students will walk away from this class with a greater grasp of the power of the Word of God and with greater confidence to dig into God’s message for humanity.
This class will be taught by Mark Moore and will draw from various passages of Scripture and other Christian writings on the topic.
Introduction date: October 27, 2009.

Sunday Bible Study is a venue for deeper Bible study and life application. The content of these classes ranges from topical studies to more inductive Bible studies. These classes may manifest themselves in shorter cycles (6 to 8 weeks) that cover one topic or more ongoing groups that study a variety of topics together.
Small Groups are designed for numerically smaller gatherings (8-12) to go deeper relationally and to truly live the Christian life together. These groups are encouraged to eat meals together, pray for one another’s needs, reflect on the topic that was covered the previous Sunday in the corporate worship service, and to serve together in some form of community outreach. These groups may be coed or gender specific and will be hosted in homes or another off-campus setting and will be given direction by a group facilitator.
